“Your moms and babies are in good hands…you’re with them. There is something about Ortrud! You put so much of yourself into what you do…it shows! You put couples at ease.”
D.D. from Arlington “I wanted to write and tell how much of a blessing Ortrud has been to our family. I am a first time mom who’s breastfeeding. After 3-4 weeks after giving birth I was still sore with breastfeeding, I called and Ortrud met me the same day I phoned. She watched our daughter latch on and gave me a better way to latch – it made all the difference. Since that time I’ve visited once again to get some advice on pumping when I return to work. Again, Ortrud was helpful. She’s not only personable but also compassionate. I will always remember Ortrud and her willingness to answer all my questions. She even provided me a list of books about breastfeeding and working.”

“I wanted to thank you for your time and talent in teaching my husband and I about childbirth. You truly have found your passion and I will tell every expectant couple I know to please consider you for birth classes because the knowledge gained is relevant and delivered in such a positive way.
Let me tell you a little about our birth story. Early labor contractions started at about 11:30PM Tuesday, December 29 and I breezed through them remembering to breathe and trying as many comfort measures as felt comfortable at the time, soaking in a warm bath, walking, resting/napping, snacking until about 5:30PM Wednesday, December 30 when I awoke from a nap to a “different” contraction. I thought to myself, o.k. I’ll just empty my bladder…then my water broke…then nausea and vomiting immediately after. From there I made my way to kneel at the side of the tub and still was thinking, this is not low enough, I’ve got to get lower. My mom and brother were here with me as my husband had gone into the office for a few hours both of us thinking we were going to be at this for a long while before we transitioned into one of the later phases of labor…well lo and behold, just as I made it on to all fours atop an exercise ball I started bearing down…this was a feeling I will never forget…it was completely uncontrollable and the “Tiger Lady” in the film you showed us has nothing on the primal yell that came from me, again uncontrollable, I couldn’t make that noise again if I tried. So remember the real action started at about 5:30PM in the midst of phone calls to our doula and realizing there was no way I was going to make it from my home to the hospital. I am less than ten minutes away from the hospital, so we opted to call the paramedics who got me there just in time for our baby to be born in the ER…yep, we didn’t even make it to L&D! Our baby was born drug and instrument free. Breastfeeding is going well. Again, thank you, thank you, thank you Ortrud for your help. I don’t believe we could have gotten through childbirth without God number one, and your training.
Thank again Ortrud!”
